WEBINAR: October 2021

The EU Sustainable Textiles Strategy - How Do We Ensure Ambitious Climate Action Is Central to Upcoming Legislation?

With COP 26 fast approaching and a pioneering EU Sustainable Textiles Strategy in the making, it is crucial to discuss how to ensure ambitious climate action is prioritised in the coming EU Textiles Strategy. In October 2021, STICA, together with Members of Parliament Alice Bah Kuhnke and Delara Burkhard, organised a webinar where you can hear climate experts, members of the European Commission and DG Environment, as well as company representatives, climate finance experts, and NGOs discuss how to ensure climate action is central to upcoming legislation.

Webinar Objectives:

  • Highlight where and how the upcoming strategy and potential legislation addresses climate action, directly or indirectly.

  • Identify gaps, opportunities and solutions to ensure ambitious climate action is central to legislation.

This webinar was organised by Members of Parliament Alice Bah Kuhnke and Delara Burkhardt as well as The Scandinavian Textile Initiative for Climate Action (STICA).

About STICA

To contribute to halving emissions by 2030, leading NGO The Sustainable Fashion Academy (SFA) launched The Scandinavian Textile Initiative for Climate Action (STICA). STICA’s aim is to support apparel and textile companies, as well as the entire Nordic apparel and textile industry, to reduce its climate impacts in line with the 1.5°C pathway while strengthening its global competitiveness. Ultimately, STICA’s aim is to ensure Sweden and the Nordic region do more than their share well before 2050. STICA believes this is the only way to avert a climate crisis.
